Ever wondered why some heaters just hit different? That’s basically what’s happening with a 1500W halogen infrared lamp. It isn’t your average space heater. It’s built for speed. Inside that quartz tube, there’s a tungsten filament and a bit of halogen gas. Here is the cool part: the gas actually cleans the tube as it works. It keeps the tungsten from gunking up the glass, which means the lamp stays bright and lasts longer even when it’s running scorching hot. The Power Side of Things 1500W is a lot of juice. It’s designed to get things hot, and get them hot fast. Now, pay attention to the length of the tube. If you cram all that power into a short lamp, you get an intense, concentrated blast of heat. That’s great if you’re curing a coating or drying something quickly, but it does put a lot of stress on the quartz. It’s a bit of a balancing act. Why Quartz and Halogen? We use quartz because it doesn’t warp when things get crazy hot. And because the halogen gas prevents the tube from turning black, the heat actually reaches your material instead of getting blocked by a dirty lens. Plus, most of these use R7s snap-in connectors. If a lamp pops during a production run, you aren’t stuck for hours. You just snap in a new one and get back to work. Simple. Where This Actually Matters You’ll see these all over the place—blowing PET bottles, powder coating, or welding plastics. The radiation hits the surface and turns into heat almost instantly. It’s nearly immediate. But a word of warning: 1500W of concentrated energy puts off a massive amount of ambient heat. If your housing doesn’t have great vents or some solid shielding, you’re going to have a bad time. You could end up melting nearby plastic parts or tripping your thermal sensors. Just make sure your cooling can keep up with the heat, or your chassis is going to feel the burn.
