We use high-purity quartz because it can take that kind of abuse without cracking. Plus, there’s this cool thing called the halogen cycle. It basically takes the tungsten that evaporates off the filament and puts it right back on. This means your heat stays steady and doesn’t just fade away as the lamp ages. As for installation? We usually use R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re designed to be drop-in replacements. If a tube dies in your heating bank, you just swap it out and get back to work. No need to rewire the entire oven. Where This Actually Works (and what to watch for) You’ll mostly see these in things like PET bottle blowing, powder coating, or plastic welding. They put out shortwave radiation, which is great because it sinks into the material almost instantly. But here is the catch. Because these tubes are so intense, they’re hard on your reflectors. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, you’re basically throwing heat away. You’ll lose a huge chunk of your efficiency. And don’t forget about the air. If your housing isn’t vented properly, that heat has nowhere to go. It’ll just soak into the machine and start frying your sensors or melting your wires.
