We built these 1500W lamps for one reason: raw power. At 850mm long, they’re designed for those linear heating zones where you can’t afford to wait around. You just need to dump a ton of energy into your workpiece, and you need it to happen now. How they actually work Here’s the cool part about shortwave IR. It doesn’t bother wasting time heating up the air around the part. Instead, the heat cuts straight through and hits the material directly. It’s fast. Really fast. To keep these things from burning out while they’re working that hard, we pack the tubes with halogen gas. It stops the tungsten filament from evaporating too quickly, so the lamp lasts longer even when you’re pushing it to the limit. Getting them set up The 850mm size is pretty standard, so they’ll fit right into most industrial drying or curing tunnels. Wiring them is straightforward—just use your standard industrial sockets. But a quick heads-up on your reflectors. Since the quartz tubes get incredibly hot, you’ll want polished aluminum or gold-coated reflectors to bounce that heat back where it belongs. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, you’re basically throwing away a huge chunk of that 1500W. A few things to watch out for Now, that instant heat is great, but it’s a double-edged sword. Because the surface temp is so high, you have to be careful with heat-sensitive plastics. If you don’t get the distance exactly right, you’re going to melt things you didn’t mean to. And don’t forget about your power grid. If you’re hooking up a bank of ten of these, that’s a massive draw. Make sure your electrical panel and wiring can handle the load without getting toasted. One last tip? Use PID controllers. It stops the temperature from spiking too high and saves your filaments from popping the moment you flip the switch.
